Answer: No!! Only containers designed, manufactured, inspected, and tested according to specific standards can be used in offshore lifting.
FACTS:
🔸 Since 1998, the IMO has created directives for the specification of containers for offshore use;
🔸 Commercial containers (used on cargo ships) cannot be used in offshore lifting;
🔸 Offshore containers are much more resistant than commercial containers of the same capacity;
🔸 Some certification companies have created their own guidelines for certifying offshore containers;
🔸 To increase global standardization, in 2018, ISO 10855 was published, a standard that unifies certification requirements.
