Rigging Plans for Routine Lifting Operations. “Routine” doesn’t always mean “simple.”

LIFTING
🔸One of the methods for unloading solid bulk cargo is through the use of specific devices called “grabs.”
🔸These are usually lifted by the shipboard cranes of bulk carriers.
🔸With a self-weight of 8 to 10 tons, they can lift a net load of up to 15 tons, totaling 25 tons of gross load.
🔸In standard bulk carriers, shipboard cranes typically have a capacity of 25 tons when operating with a grab and 30 tons when handling other loads.
🔸It is crucial to evaluate the specific weight of the material to be lifted to avoid overloading the crane, as there is a wide range of solids that can be transported as cargo.
